Thanks to Professor Edith (Edie) Hubert!!! She's really gone above and beyond the expectations of a "part time instructor" and made such a huge impact on all our piano students!! Juries (Dec. 6) were unprecedented. Everyone was so well prepared and played so well! I'm just in awe of all of you! Congratulations ALL who study piano at Jacksonville University. Big SHOUT-OUT! to my Jacksonville University senior piano performance major ALFRED MENESES who accompanied the JU Men's Chorus at the annual Intercollegiate Choral Festival hosted this year at JU. Alfred played with artistry, sensitivity, and profound, thoughtful musicianship. Way to go, Alfred! Men's Chorus, of course, sounded amazing. Beautiful tone and clear diction. Wonderful performance all around!

Massive SHOUT OUT to my student Tyler Bechtle (BA, music business/piano - 2011 recipient of the Harvey Scholl Prize in Piano) for his powerful performance of Richard Addinsell's "Warsaw" Concerto today at JU's weekly Performance Lab. The audience certainly seemed to agree with me. Bravo!

BIG SHOUT OUT to my piano students (Katherine, Austin, Alfred, Tyler, John, Melony, Grace) for AWESOME lessons this week! You guys are just improving fast and becoming sensitive, artistic musicians. Congratulations to Michael Mastronicola on an outstanding performance Friday evening (August 19) at The Friday Musicale. He gave a masterful reading of Aaron Copland's powerful Piano Sonata, and energetic performances of music by Ginastera an Villa Lobos. Bobb Robinson (baritone) was stirring in two song suites by Timothy Snyder (Three Songs after Schumann, and Three Robert Frost Songs). Congratulations to my JU sophomore Juan Rogers for his outstanding performance at The Friday Musicale July 29th. He played the CPE Bach Trio with Hannah Fell (flute) and Leah Chappell (cello) and the Milhaud Scaramouche (1st mvt., "vif") with Stetson junior piano student Brent Pafford. Kudos to all - I am especially proud of Juan! GREAT JOB, MR. ROGERS!!!

Very special SHOUT-OUT to my graduating senior piano student, Ben Clark, who graduated from The Douglas Anderson School of the Arts. What an outstanding year Mr. Clark enjoyed. He was the FSMTA District IV Senior Concerto Competition Winner in March. Also in March he was finalist in the Jacksonville Symphony Youth Orchestra Concerto Competition. In the fall he will attend The Florida State University (his teacher's ... and MY teacher's Alma Mater!) majoring in Business Finance and minoring in Music!
